Safe sex

Young adults are the highest risk group for contracting STIs, so it is important to make sure that you are safe when having sex. Part of that is to have regular sexual health checkups (it is recommended to checked regularly, e.g. every three month) and also if  you may have had risky sex recently.

General tips for safe sex are:

  • Keeping finger nails short and not wearing jewellery
  • Using condoms with sex toys as they may be used on multiple partners
  • Using water-based lube to ease penetration
  • Avoid oral sex if you have sores or cuts in your mouth
  • Using a dental dam for oral sex
  • Using gloves when fingering, fisting or touching each other
  • Talk to your partner so that you can feel more comfortable
