JessPresident
Hi everyone! I’m Jess, your President, and former Women’s Officer (a position I held amusingly briefly). I’m studying English Literature. I’m very passionate about my studies, except when I’m reading Ulysses which makes me want to weep. However, if you ever fancy a chat about the Tudors I’m your girl total geek! I’m originally from West Yorkshire. The best way to wind me up is to make fun of my accent. The way I say good fun is apparently hilarious, and gets funnier as the night goes on. I hope to make GULGBT a place where everyone feels welcome, and will endeavour to provide support and enjoyment for all. If you have any ideas for the future of GULGBT please feel free to email. I am happy to hear any suggestions.
LaurenSecretary
Hi guys, I’m Lauren your Secretary! I’m just finishing my first year at Glasgow uni and I’ve had a fantastic time so far, mostly due to the amazing people in LGBT. This is my second time at university and Glasgow has been an absolute blast compared to my previous uni, and I hope all of you enjoy it as much as I have. I’m really excited about the year ahead and what it holds for this fantastic society and I’m really looking forward to working hard at helping this society be the best it can be; legible minutes are at the heart of every great association don’t you know ;) I hope to see lots of you at all of our fantastic events, come and talk to me. Don’t be shy I don’t bite!
MarkTreasurer
I’m Mark, the Association’ treasurer. I’m in my Senior Honours year, studying German. Besides learning languages, I like doing sport and travelling. My job in the Association is to keep the accounts in order to make sure all your events are well funded. Any questions, please get in touch.
Welfare officer
I’m Kirsty, the Welfare officer. I’m from Fife, and I’m studying English Literature and French. I’d like to think I’m approachable, since that’s a large part of my job. If you ever want to discuss anything, I’m up for a chat and I’ve got more leaflets than you can shake a stick at. Feel free to email me whenever, even about the most trivial things, and I’ll see you at events. Ciao.
JoWomen’s officer
Hi! I’m Jo, the WomenI’s Officer. I’m a Psychology, Human Biology and Statistics student. I absolutely love Glasgow and meeting so many different people, as I’m a country girl. My favourite thing to do is sleep but apart from that I love drawing, my wee dog and I also play piano and cello. I’m a massive Harry Potter geek too. I’ve only done a couple of events so far but I’ve got lots of ideas for future ones which should be fun! If you have any ideas on what you’d like to do for an event, please feel free to email me.
TomMen’s officer
Hi my name is Tom, I’m the men's officer for the Association and this is my second year in the committee! I essentially organise men's events and to keep up with the needs and concerns of the blokes in the society. If you have any event ideas or any concerns don’t hesitate to contact me by forum or email. I’m a History student, and love it so much that I decided to do two different history courses this year. My hobbies are swimming, reading, attending dialectics and also going to the gym on the rare, rare occasion. I also love heading out to the city as I’m from the wilderness, baking without much success and also meeting lovely new people.
Transgender officer
Hi, I am your trans officer, here to represent transgender(and questioning) people to the society and the university. You can meet me at general events as well as trans events, or email me at trans@gulgbt.co.uk. If you aren’t sure who you are looking for ask another committee member to point me out. If you have any questions about trans stuff, I am here to provide answers so get in touch, I will not think your questions are stupid. I can not emphasise enough how open we are to any gender identity so don’t feel that you aren’t ’trans’ enough to come to my events. Hope to bring you some interesting stuff this year.
Post/Mat officer
I’m Elliot and I’m your postgraduate and mature students officer. I'm doing a PhD in Virology, I’m from Coventry and did my undergraduate at Warwick University (Which despite the name is also in Coventry.) My hobbies include swimming, roleplaying, reading and singing. I spent 5 months travelling Australia and New Zealand, thus the picture with the Koala (he’s called Fitzroy if you were interested).
ErinCampaigns officer
Hey, I’m Erin, your newly appointed Campaigns Officer and I’m currently studying English Literature and History of Art. Most of my time is spent taking photos, writing bad poetry, drinking a lot of tea and obsessively perusing news and current affairs websites. I’m from the North of Scotland where most people are quite politically apathetic, so it’s great to be in Glasgow where I’m able to shout about things alongside others! I’m hoping that we can all work together to raise LGBT awareness around campus and beyond and if you have any ideas or suggestions please get in touch!
ChrisPublicity officer
Hey, I’m Chris and I’m the Publicity Officer and a first time committee member, so if you feel you have any ideas or advice for me, i'd be gratefully received! I’m studying history and archaeology, both of which are far more interesting than you’d think, at least to me! I’m from Larne in Northern Ireland, hence the dodgy accent. I enjoy reading a fair bit, along with heading to gigs, gymming it occasionally, and living up to my ethnic stereotype by drinking excessively. Random Facts: I can play the banjo; Music tastes range from The Dubliners to Crystal Castles and most things in between; I make a mean cheesecake. Hope to chat to yourselves soon, Chris =)
JamesOrdinary Member
Hi I'm James and I'm the Ordinary Member. I first joined GULGBT in 2008 when I was in second year and know how much it helped shape who I am today, so I want to make sure that we can continue to help people come out and meet new friends just as we did back then! I studied Politics at Uni and this year will be doing a sabbatical year as Vice President (Learning and Development) of the SRC. When I’m not at meetings, rewriting student constitutions or away from the internet, I can often be found in Polo on a night out!
